Otago Skylights and Heating is a locally owned and operated business that specialises in the supply, installation and servicing of a range of home improvement products throughout Otago and Central Otago.  

We are committed to creating healthier, warmer, drier and lighter homes.  We have a range of solutions that can enhance your home making it more comfortable for you and your family.

We are passionate about what we do.  We have friendly staff who have a range of experience and vast product knowledge.  We can help create a well lit (natural light), warm, comfortable home that will enhance your quality of living. We can do a range of jobs including residential homes, jobs for building contractors or commercial sites.

We are members of the New Zealand Home Heating Association (NZHHA) and have installers that are qualified as Solid Fuel Appliance Technicians (SFIAT). Hometech is proudly part of Future Proof Building (FPB).  We have proudly been part of the Dunedin City Councils "Warm Up Dunedin" Scheme.

We stand by our products and service.  We offer a 10 year warranty on Hometech Solatube products and installation. Many of our products are BRANZ appraised.  This means that it has been independently tested and recognised to exceed New Zealand Building Code.

Mark McHutchon

Mark McHutchon Mark is the leader of the team and the owner/director of Otago Skylights and Heating.  He has over 10 years experience in the heating and ventilation trade and is passionate about what he does.  
In 2010 Mark McHutchon purchased the Hometech license for Otago. Having previously worked with Hometech in Canterbury he loved their superior quality products and the ethos of the company. The move back down south was a natural progression and completed the desire to be around family. Mark had been operating his own successful business installing thousands of woodfires and ventilation units throughout Canterbury. These existing skills complemented the Hometech products and hence Otago Skylights and Heating was established. Since then we have also taken on Southland and Central Otago and regulary visit these areas installing woodburners, solatubes and many of the other quality products that we offer.

Mark is a family man with 2 children.  He enjoys sport, having successfully represented a number of provinces for rugby at various levels and also New Zealand. His most recent sporting endeavour was the 2013 Southern Showdown Charity Boxing Event.  Here he was successful in his bout and was proud to contribute to the Otago Hospice.
Mark enjoys the practical and physical aspects of the job as well as enhancing peoples homes.

Hayley McHutchon

Hayley McHutchon Hayley is Marks wife and works in the business part time.  She oversees the general running of the business and the marketing side of things.  The rest of Hayley's time is spent at Taieri College where she is a part time Science and Physical Education Teacher.  Hayley enjoys spending time with their two young children and also enjoys touch and hockey.

Michelle McClimont

Michelle McClimont Michelle is our newest team member to join Otago Skylights and Heating.  Michelle is the friendly office manager and most likely the person you will be dealing with over the phone and via emails.  Michelle's role is to ensure that things run smoothly for the installers and that clients are well informed and happy.

Shaun Rowe

Shaun Rowe Shaun is one of the installation experts.  He is experienced with Solatube Daylighting Systems, Roof windows, Attic Stairs, Ventilation, Woodburners and Insulation. Shaun has been with Otago Skylights and Heating approximately 2 years and is a valuable team member.  
Shaun is recently married and enjoys travelling and golf.
Shaun has a cheerful personality, and constantly gets comments about his professionalism and friendliness.
